About Us

Prompted by recognition of an opportunity being missed by traditional training establishments, Graeme Kynman and Nick Snowden began planning the Academy in 2005, having known each other for over 12 years. Classes began in summer 2007 and a nationally accredited BTEC course is currently being delivered in Leeds and Hull. The aim is to provide a structured career development path specifically for those who design bathrooms and kitchens.

Graeme is a qualified architect, with over 8 years experience specifically in Kitchen and Bathroom training, plus over 12 years in interior design tuition. He wrote the BTEC course to meet the needs of practicing designers in the industry.

Nick is a Business and Management Trainer and consultant, with experience in a range of organisations. Nick is responsible for managing the business, and delivery and development of management content for BKA.

BTEC in Kitchen Systems and Design

BKA is currently offering their unique BTEC qualifications in Kitchen Systems and Design, with the accreditation of the BTEC in Bathroom Systems and Design pending. The current programme includes up to 6 modules:

  • Kitchen design & furniture systems
  • Kitchen technology and appliances
  • Surveying and design communication skills
  • Working with solid surfaces and kitchen worktops
  • Effective Customer Contact
  • Specifying brassware sinks and drainage systems

Face-to-face delivery takes place for one day per module, with on-line, email and telephone support available.

New courses and modules are being developed, focusing further on aspects of kitchen and bathroom design, but also on Computer Aided Design, sales, and team and business management; this will take the portfolio of internationally recognised courses up to degree level by late 2008.

Delivery can be arranged on clients own site, or at locations across the country.
